Miami Mindfulness MBSR Teacher Training Practicum, March - April  

This MBSR Teacher Training Practicum is accepted by the UC San Diego Professional Training Institute’s MBSR Teacher Certification Program. Taught by Valerie York-Zimmerman.

It satisfies the Phase I, Step 2 requirement within the MBSR Training Pathway through the University of California at San Diego (UCSD), Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute (MBPTI) For more information, see https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/mindfulness/

Pre-requisites for this training:

Completion of an 8-week MBSR Program

5-day teacher-led, Silent Mindfulness Retreat

This Practicum training includes the Thursday evening MBSR Program and Saturday Practicum classes for Teachers-in-Training to explore themes, rationales, intentions, curriculum, and practice teaching within the framework of a concurrent MBSR Program. Practicum Fee: $1,745.

.b Mindfulness Training for Teens (11-18 years) (.b[dot-be] stands for “Stop and be!”)

.b is being offered as an after-school program in collaboration with Coral Gables Congregational United Church. Award-winning, research-based, 10-week program based on MBSR and MBCT.

Teens report they feel happier and have tools to deal with stress and anxiety. They learn how to pay attention better, which leads to improved quality of performance in the classroom, in sports, and in the performing arts. .b is taught with striking visuals, film clips and activities that bring mindfulness to life without losing the precision, expertise and integrity of classic mindfulness.

Tuesday Afternoons, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

This retreat is modeled on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) principles developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli at the Center for Mindfulness in the University of Massachusetts Medical School. In order to help participants discover a sense of stillness and deep listening, silence will be maintained throughout the retreat except during question&answer periods and interviews with our teachers. Daily guided mindfulness practices of sitting, walking,  movement and eating sessions will be offered.

Check-in begins at 4 pm on Tuesday, January 15. Retreat ends at 1 pm Sunday, January 20.
Meals at the Duncan Conference Center will be lacto-ovo-vegetarian. Please note on your registration if you have any special dietary restrictions.


Early bird (on or before 11/15/18):$940 Double occup., $1,115 Single occup.
After 11/15/18:$1,050 Double occup., $1,225 Single occup.   

All rooms have private bath. Meals included.
